Sweet Owen came to the studio with his big sister, mom, and dad, and it was immediately clear how incredibly loved he is. His family was just so warm and so full of gratitude, showering him with so much love and heartfelt blessings. It was truly beautiful to witness.

Owen’s 3-Week-Old Newborn Session in Coral Springs
He was an absolute dream throughout the shoot! We captured some stunning portraits that reflect just how special this time is even at 3 weeks old. Most photographers will say they prefer to photograph newborns within the first 14 days. While that can be true, I know that every baby is different and every session is unique.
And this session is a perfect example of why you shouldn’t stress if you’re past that 2-week mark. At three weeks old, Owen was still every bit the sleepy newborn, just with a few extra stretches and some wide-eyed moments sprinkled in (and those always end up being some of the parents’ favorite shots!).
If you’re curious what newborn sessions can look like past the 2-week mark, check out this blog post featuring a 4-week-old baby girl newborn session I photographed recently for a Pompano Beach family.
Posing + Prop Flow
For this photoshoot, Mom requested neutrals, grays and blues for her baby boy. So that is exactly what we did!
We started with some sweet bare baby poses on one of my all-time favorite gray fabrics. The color is so peaceful and classic- perfect for little boys (and girls, too!). It’s one of the most requested colors in my newborn photography Coral Springs studio. It seems like everyone has some shade of grade in their homes right now. Plus these neutral tones look awesome in albums and wall art.
Have you taken a peak to swoon at the delicious cheeks this little man has!! I couldn’t stop smiling as I was posing him. I just wanted to squeeze him. He was so calm and sleepy for most of his session. He was so happy to snuggle with his big sister who actually fell asleep with him on my fluffy flokati rug! It was a first for me to have a newborn and a toddler fall asleep together! It was priceless.
For wardrobe, mom requested neutrals, grays, and blues, so I pulled out some client favorites from my curated studio collection, including two popular hand-knit onesies and my cozy “Pooh” bucket prop. He posed perfectly with his little chin resting on his arms. Swoon!
When it came time for sibling shots, big sister had actually fallen asleep herself. I have never had a newborn and toddler fall asleep together on my big fluffy rug!! It was priceless. I captured the most adorable image of both of them sleeping peacefully side-by-side. It’s the kind of image moms LOVE! Moments like that can’t be forced-they just happen.
Of course, I made sure to include some sweet shots of dad holding and loving on his new baby boy, too. Dads always say they’re not sure what to do during these sessions, but they always walk away loving the photos we create. That’s one of the things I love most about offering newborn photos in Coral Springs- creating images that feel authentic and emotional for the entire family.

From Sleepy to Wide Awake
Toward the end of the session, little Owen woke up, but I was still able to sneak in one final setup with my bamboo basket prop. I swaddled him in a textured gray knit wrap and tucked in a tiny teddy lovey. His alert expression and the way he held that bear? Pure gold.
I always love mixing sleepy and awake images- it adds even more variety to your final gallery. Every session tells a story.
Why Coral Springs Families Choose My Newborn Photography Studio
As a Coral Springs newborn photographer, I always say that this “job” is a blessing in itself. I never take for granted the trust it takes for parents to hand me their days-old baby. Especially during such an emotional time- mom is still healing, baby is adjusting to life outside the womb, and siblings are navigating big changes.
So much has to come together to create a beautiful gallery: timing, energy, emotions, lighting, posing, safety, and trust. When it all aligns, the result is something truly special.
Many of the families I photograph for newborn pictures live near family-friendly places like Cypress Park. It’s always fun chatting about local spots we love- Coral Springs has so many great spots for families!
