All little bit about how I prepare for your newborn photo day
I am often asked how I prepare for your newborn photography session. I have quite a long to-do list to prepare for your baby’s arrival at my South Florida studio. I set up a communication schedule with baby’s parents, shop for props (so fun!), style the session, choose colors and outfits, and assemble my studio welcome sign. The hour or so before baby arrives means it’s time for me to turn the music up and start my pre photo session routine. This is when I finalize my prop setups for baby and make sure I have additional options. I double-check my camera and lighting equipment to make sure everything is functioning properly. For me it’s like meditation. A time for me to run through my game plan and focus on the session ahead.
Where you come in
Planning for newborn photos is a true team effort and parents are the MVP’s. We work together and get 90% of the planning completed long before baby arrives. Because of this pre-planning you get to live in the moment and truly ENJOY your baby’s time in the studio. We achieve this through lots of open communication. We will talk, text and/or email as often as you need to make you comfortable. I will even ask you questions too. For example, do you want to add a maternity session? Do you want to add an outdoor or beach photo of baby? Another useful pre-planning tool is the Client Questionnaire. This helps me plan the products you will display in your home, the colors you prefer for props, etc. Finally, I will send you a Photo Preparation Checklist to prepare baby for picture day.
Picture day arrives
Finally, after all of our preparation and communication we are ready for the big day. Now, if anyone can throw a curve ball into our game plan it’s the little ones. But that’s totally okay, we are prepared for it and we planned for some hiccups. The few hours we spend together are probably one the first events with your baby outside the home and it will come with memories and stories to tell. We will take beautiful photos you that are the reminder of your day. So if baby just happens to go potty on a prop right when I am about to snap my camera, its ok. We will laugh about it and in years to come every time you see that photo on your wall you will smile. It is part of the memory we are creating at your session.
